The concrete Bridge deck in the southbound lane coming out of Washington has wheel rutting, potholes, cracking and increased wear.  Recent concrete core tests have revealed high levels of salt content in the concrete. The State of Washington uses salt to treat ice on SR 14. The salt gets tracked on to the Bridge deck, which has led to more rapid deterioration of the road surface.

Conway Construction has been contracted for the necessary repair work on the Bridge.  They will be removing salt contaminated concrete and resurfacing the southbound lane on the Washington Bridge deck.  Additionally, both the Oregon and Washington deck surfaces will be sealed for preservation.  The repair will require closing the southbound lane for the extent of the project.  Work will be done at night and will result in full night-time Bridge closures during the following times:

SEPTEMBER 23rd – OCTOBER 12th (projected, may change)

The Bridge will be open at all other times with single-lane closures and flagging to get vehicles around the deck section being repaired. The Port’s entire paved lot on the Washington side of the Bridge will be closed until completion of the project, as this area will be reserved as a staging area for Conway Construction.   Please note that the expected closure dates may change.  The Port will provide updates as new information becomes available.
